Theatrical Release of Citizen Jane: Battle for the City*

Friday, April 28, 2017 @ 7:10 pm - 9:00 pm

$10

On April 28th, Matt Tyrnauer will release his new film, Citizen Jane, a timely and important story about Jane Jacobs, urban activist and author of the classic The Death and Life of Great American Cities. The film tells the story of Jacobs taking on the tyrannical master builder Robert Moses in 1950s and 60s New York City. This overlooked chapter in New York’s history is a beautifully told, inspiring, and historic example of successful social activism in urban development. Jacobs was a galvanizing force in saving cherished New York neighborhoods such as SoHo and Greenwich Village. She was a pioneering community organizer who spoke truth to power. Citizen Jane is produced by Robert Hammond, co-founder of Friends of the High Line, and Corey Reeser and Matt Tyrnauer of Altimeter Films. (2016, dir. Matt Tyrnauer, 92 min.)
