SUMMARY:Let's Talk: Intersectional Feminism and Biking
DESCRIPTION:Join Women Bike SF for a special panel discussion on Wednesday\, Jan. 24 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. This panel will be moderated by Katie Styer\, host of the Oakland Bikes! radio program\, and will feature a panel of inspiring\, trailblazing women. In this event\, we’ll be discussing the parallel paths of intersectional feminism and biking. We’ll explore the barriers often faced by female -identifying  or gender- nonconforming people who want to bike. Kids are welcome; light snacks and beverages will be provided. After the event we will be going to Odd Job\, a casual bar close by\, to meet one another and continue the conversation. For more information\, go to sfbike.org/women \nPanelists Include: \nBinky Brown is the owner and founder of Hard Knox Bikes\, a specialty bike shop offering hands-on workshops for the not-so-average rider.  Services and resources support all those who identify as women\, people of color\, trans and all other gender rebels and allies throughout the East Bay. \nCatherine Callahan is the Mobility Management Project Coordinator at Center for Independent Living\, which provides advocacy and services that increase awareness\, collaboration\, and opportunity among people with disabilities and the community at large. \nJane Natoli is a board member at the SF LGBT Center\, whose mission is to connect people to opportunities\, resources and each other to achieve a vision of a stronger\, healthier\, and more equitable world for LGBT people and allies. \nJenn Chan does community outreach for the Livable Streets division of the SF Municipal Transportation Agency. She also organizes the Supermarket Street Sweep to benefit the SF-Marin Food Bank and regularly races with the SF Cycling Club. \nEmilytricia Lopez Marchena is a core organizing member of Bicis del Pueblo (a project of PODER) and a founding member of the Nothin Nice Collective\, a grassroots organization that holds space for and empowers the QTPOC community in the Bay Area.  \nBicycle Parking Options: \nWhile public sidewalk bicycle racks are available outside this location\, we’re happy to provide a secure bicycle parking option at the SF Bicycle Coalition office. Drop off your bike between 5:45 – 6:00 pm and pick it up after the event between 8:00 – 8:15 pm. Our office is located at 1720 Market Street\, just two blocks away from the venue. A group will walk together from the office to the venue at 6:00pm sharp. Bike Link also offers secure bicycle parking options at select locations around Market Street. \n\n \nPowered by Eventbrite
