The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, in partnership with the Yerba Buena Community Benefit District, is organizing area businesses to create San Francisco’s first Bicycle-Friendly Business District.

The Yerba Buena district touches some of San Francisco’s busiest bike routes on Market, 2nd, Folsom and Howard Streets. Creating an official bicycle-friendly business district will make this area even more bike-friendly by encouraging and incentivizing more people to shop, dine and explore by bike. In the new bicycle-friendly business district, neighborhood events will actively integrate biking.

A Bike-Friendly Business district (BFBD) is a commercial district where merchants encourage people to bike to the area to shop and dine – and where merchants and employees ride too. BFBDs integrate bikes into a district’s operations, events, and promotions.

This business offers discounts or promotions to people who ride their bikes to the business

This business supports people who bike by requesting infrastructure or offering incentives to employees who bike to work
