How to Teach Your Child to Ride a Bike
San Francisco’s annual Bike & Roll to School Week takes place April 20 – 24, 2020. Join thousands of parents, students and caregivers who will celebrate by pedaling or otherwise rolling to schools throughout the city. Students of all ages, from pre-school to high school, are welcome to participate. Don’t miss out on the fun! Any parent or school staff member may sign up your school. Register now to receive incentives for participating students.
Bike & Roll to School Week is sponsored by the SF Safe Routes to School Partnership and organized by the SF Bicycle Coalition.
The SF Bicycle Coalition teaches free Family Biking Workshops and classes for all stages of family biking — from biking while pregnant to biking your child to school. We also host Freedom From Training Wheels workshops at every Sunday Streets to teach the littlest ones to bike without training wheels. In addition, you can test ride a family bicycle and talk to our experts about biking with children and equipment options at our ongoing Sunday Streets events.
Children who walk and bike to school arrive energized and ready to learn. The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition is a partner organization in San Francisco Safe Routes to School, working to make biking and walking to school safer, easier and more fun for students and their families. Safe Routes to School is expanding to serve all SF Unified School District elementary schools.
