Super Sprinkles Racing and Velo Promo are hosting the 49th annual il Giro di San Francisco Criterium at Levi’s Plaza. Il Giro di San Francisco is a series of criterium (“crit”) bicycle races held on Labor Day, Monday, September 1st, 2025. Each race is 40-60 minutes long and consists of several laps of the course. Races take place throughout the day from 8:00am to around 4:00pm and include different USA Cycling categories of riders, from Pro to Novice.
Spectators
Il Giro di San Francisco is free to spectate. The best viewing points are around the start and finish at Battery St. and Union St., or as riders race the punchy climb along Vallejo St. In addition, a free-to-enter Kids’ Race will take place at around 12:50pm. The race is open to any children 10 and under (bicycle or tricycle, helmet, and signed waiver required). Kids will race down the block or up to one lap of the course depending on age.
Race Participants
Race fields are capacity-limited for safety. All racers must have a current USA Cycling race license (novice categories may purchase a one-day license at registration). Participants are encouraged to pre-register online to ensure their spot.
Expect street closures on Sansome St., Battery St., Front St., Greenwich St., Union St., Green St., and Vallejo St. around Levi’s Plaza. Announcers are at the start / finish line at the intersection of Union and Battery. No MUNI lines are impacted.
