Biking is a terrific way to get around San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition is proud to work on a myriad of campaigns to make your regional commute easier and more enjoyable by bike. We often work with the California Bicycle Coalition and Bike East Bay on regional campaigns.
BART
We are proud that our decades-long work has resulted in all day access for bikes on BART. We are now focusing our attention on increasing secure bike parking at stations and improving the bike routes to BART stations.
Caltrain
The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition continues to work to improve access and increase capacity on Caltrain so you have an easier commute between San Francisco and the Peninsula.
Bike Share
Bay Area Bike Share launched with a small pilot in 2013. The SF Bicycle Coalition continues to advocate for a much larger program, one that will connect your home with your work and favorite spots around town. A robust bike share system will open up the joy of biking to everyone.
Bay Bridge
After years of advocacy, we welcomed the opening of the East Span on September 2, 2013. The new East Span includes a beautiful bicycle and pedestrian path named after a long-time advocate for bicycling, Alexander Zuckermann. In carrying on his legacy, the SF Bicycle Coalition continues to work towards a connection onto the West Span to continue the path all the way to San Francisco.
Golden Gate Bridge
The SF Bicycle Coalition continues to work to open up more and better bike access on the Golden Gate Bridge. Our work resulted in bikes being allowed 24-hours-a-day and we continue to work to make biking on the Golden Gate a great experience.
