London Calling: Notes from London’s Cycling Underground*
Tuesday, December 17, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
A special holiday evening, with a talk by Jenni Gwiazdowski plus sneak previews and gift shop discounts!
Curious about the Marin Museum of Bicycling’s expansion? Heard talk of amazing bikes coming in their doors? Love their Speaker Series? Join the Marin Museum of Bicycling on Tuesday, December 17! Doors will open at 6:00 pm with refreshments at the ready. Take a look at the expansion-in-progress, see fascinating bikes and get special discounts in the gift shop! Then, at 7:30 pm, enjoy a talk by special guest Jenni Gwiazdowski, who’s here for a short visit from her adopted home of London.
Jenni’s a whirlwind. She is founder and director of the London Bike Kitchen, a mechanic-owned-and-operated DIY workshop. She is the author of the recent book How to Build a Bike, a lively manual for building up your own ride. She is co-presenter of the Wheel Suckers Podcast, a “tandem” cycling comedy podcast with engaging interviews and panels. Recent episodes include Transcontinental Launch; Afghan Cycles; Women’s Racing Intro Night; Why A Custom Bike; Pedal the Planet; The Future for London Cycling, and Wheels for Wellbeing.
Join Jenni and all your museum friends for a talk about how she went from being a soft-fingered marketing assistant to a grease-pawed monkey, bringing American DIY aesthetics to posh Brits along the way. She’ll also talk about the bike scene in London, and how we can learn from each other, though we be oceans apart.
**Marin Museum of Bicycling Members get in FREE** as a thanks for your support, and a 20% discount in the gift shop. Non-member admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students, and you’ll get a 10% discount in the shop. As always, refreshments will be available with local beers, wine, hot spiced cider and snacks available by donation. Hope you can join!
