Ride of Silence*
Wednesday, May 16, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Event Navigation
San Francisco’s annual Ride of Silence is a group ride to honor those that have been injured or killed while biking. This ride takes place in over 50 countries on the third Wednesday each May with thousands of riders coming out in support and solidarity. The ride is a silent, no-drop group ride that visits high injury cycling routes and sites of recent cycling fatalities, to honor those hurt and killed and advocate for safer streets for all. This important ride helps to spread the message that cyclists represent precious lives.
The ride will take place on Wednesday, May 16 at Sports Basement (1590 Bryant Street). Bike parking can be found in the Sports Basement parking garage (entrance on Florida St.), in front of the store, or attendees are welcome to bring their bike inside to The Grotto.
5:30PM Gathering in The Grotto space at the Sports Basement for a short program
6:30 PM Planned roll-out
The ride is expected to take two hours, including stops to lay flowers and observe a moment of silence at locations where cyclists have been killed. The ride is appropriate for riders of all ages and abilities.
