Saving our Seawall: A bike ride with the Port

Saturday, October 13, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Love San Francisco’s waterfront? Get to know the Embarcadero seawall! San Francisco’s seawall was constructed more than a century ago and is the foundation of over three miles of the city’s waterfront stretching from Fisherman’s Wharf to Mission Creek. The seawall has served us well for over 100 years, but it is falling apart and needs significant repairs to withstand the next major earthquake and impending sea level rise.

The Port of San Francisco is leading the Seawall Earthquake Safety and Disaster Prevention Program, a citywide effort to create a stronger and more sustainable waterfront by addressing critical safety upgrades along the Embarcadero seawall.

This bike ride is organized by the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition and will be led by Port staff, who will share their knowledge and expertise and answer your questions. The proposed route:

1) Start: AT&T Park (3rd Street and San Francisco Bay Trail)

2) Brannan St. Wharf

3) Pier 14

4) Pier 1

5) Cruise Terminal

6) End: Pier 43

This bike ride is open to all members of the public, but we encourage you to join as a member of the SF Bicycle Coalition to support our work of promoting the bicycle for everyday transportation.
