SF Urban Film Fest: Alexa, Fix My City*

Wednesday, February 5, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

In early 2019, Amazon’s plans for a second headquarters were thwarted by the same grassroots coalition that put Alexandria Ocasio Cortez into Congress. It was a huge blow to the huge corporation after year long beauty pageant in which 238 cities vied for its business. Join SPUR’s own celebrity New York Times columnist Allison Arieff in examining how cities have courted and some say contorted, or in the case of Queens thwarted, big tech as they try to influence and capitalize on the cities for economic base.

Tickets: FREE to the public. Please register in advance using ticket link on this page.

Panelists:

Alison Arieff, Editorial Director, SPUR
Jorge Rivas, Deputy Director, Neighborhood Economic Development, San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development
Curated by Omeed Manocheri and Fay Darmawi
