POSTPONED/POSTPUESTA: Smart City Cycling 2: Maneuvering/Ciclismo Seguro 2: Las maniobras

This on-bike class will focus on the bike-handling skills you need to safely and confidently ride in urban traffic. The class will be conducted in a car-free space, and is the second in the Smart City Cycling sequence. Smart City Cycling 1: Classroom or Intro to Urban Bicycling is a prerequisite for this course. If you have not already taken them, you can register here or here.

Topics covered include:

  • How to ride with one hand in order to signal
  • Scanning over one’s shoulder while maintaining a straight line
  • Crash-avoidance maneuvers

This class will prepare you for Smart City Cycling 3: Road Practice, in which you will take your new skills out to streets.

All participants MUST either bring a bike or rent a bike in advance. Bikes will not be available for rental at the class.

At this time, this class is limited to people 18 years old and above.

COVID-19 protocols: We will be following the protocols laid out by SFDPH here during this class, including temperature checks, face coverings, social distancing, and reduced class sizes. Masks, gloves, wipes, and hand sanitizer will be available at the class.

Esta clase, la cuál haremos montados en la bicicleta, se enfocará en las destrezas necesarias para maniobrar su bicicleta de manera segura y con confianza en el tráfico urbano.

El curso tendrá lugar en un espacio sin carros, y es el segundo curso en la serie Ciclismo inteligente en la ciudad/Smart City Cycling.

Ciclismo inteligente en la ciudad/Smart City Cycling 1: Clase en aula o Fundamentos de Ciclismo Urbano/Intro to Urban Cycling es un prerrequisito para tomar este curso. Si aún no ha tomado este curso, puede matricularse aquí.

Temas incluidos:

  • Cómo manejar la bicicleta con una mano mientras señala con la otra
  • Cómo ver sobre el hombro mientras continúa pedaleando en línea recta
  • Maniobras para evitar choques

Esta clase lo preparará para Ciclismo Urbano Inteligente 3: practicaremos en la calle, dándole la oportunidad de practicar sus nuevas habilidades, y circulará por las calles en bicicleta.
