Smart City Cycling 3: Road Practice

Saturday, May 8, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

This class has been rescheduled from 5/1.

This class is in English and Spanish. Para español, haga clic aquí.

In this class, we’ll go on a guided group ride to practice street-riding skills on increasingly high-volume streets. This class is the third in the Smart City Cycling sequence, and Smart City Cycling 2: Maneuvering is a prerequisite.

Skills covered in this class include:

  • Taking the lane
  • Changing lanes
  • Left turns
  • Lane Positioning and Signaling

All participants MUST either bring a bike or rent a bike in advance. Bikes will not be available for rental at the class. If you don’t have a bicycle, we will send information on how to rent one for the class. The cost of bike rental (if needed) will be covered by you, the participant. If the cost of a bike rental (about $20) is a challenge for you, please email Eliana@sfbike.org or call at‪ (415) 409-9416, as we have some limited funding available for rentals.

At this time, this class is limited to people 18 years old and above.

COVID-19 protocols: We will be following the protocols laid out by SFDPH here during this class, including mandatory face coverings, social distancing, and reduced class sizes. Masks, gloves, wipes, and hand sanitizer will be available at the class.

Please contact Eliana Marcus-Tyler (eliana@sfbike.org/‪415-409-9416‬) with any questions about this program.

This class is part of the SFMTA’s Bicycle Safety Education program, presented in partnership with the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. It is made possible by the San Francisco County Transportation Authority through a grant of Proposition K Local Transportation Sales Tax Funds.
