The Importance of Public Space in Cities
Tuesday, May 19, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Event Navigation
Public space in cities has always been important but has become increasingly so during the shelter-in-place order.
The Slow Streets initiative and new, temporary car-free spaces like JFK Drive in Golden Gate park and Shelley Drive in McLaren Park have opened up more public space for people to walk and bike while San Franciscans shelter in place. But what happens to these spaces once shelter in place is over? And how has shelter in place impacted our mentality around open space?
To hear the answers to these questions and more, join us in conversation with…
- Constance Cavallas, Director of Neighborhood Services and Projects for the Yerba Buena Community Benefit District and current SF Bicycle Coalition board member
- Lawrence Li, Strategy and Operations Director at SPUR and former SF Bicycle Coalition board president
