Join us for the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition’s celebration of PARK(ing) Day!
We’ll lay out grass (don’t worry, it’s fake), places to sit, games and info about our current campaigns. So be sure to come say hello.
We’re also giving away free beer tokens for Tour de Fat (if you’re lucky) and offering discounted memberships. So it’s a great day to join or renew your SF Bicycle Coalition membership, snag a free prize and/or just hang out and help us reclaim some street space.
PARK(ing) Day is an annual international event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks. Your San Francisco Bicycle Coalition fights everyday to get our city to design safer streets for people, and PARK(ing) Day is an inspiring celebration of reclaiming public space for people to pause, play and peruse.
Our city has hundreds of miles of on-street parking and PARK(ing) Day puts some of this space to temporary, novel uses. It’s a holiday for reconsidering how public space is created and allocated.
WHEN: Friday, Sept. 18: 8AM-2PM
WHERE: In front of Flax Art & Design at Market and Valencia Streets and across from our new offices (map)
WHAT: Reclaiming public space; chilling; free prizes and discounted memberships.
Happy PARK(ing) Day!
