Intro to Urban Bicycling Workshop with Bay Wheels

Saturday, October 26, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Free

Come learn the basics of biking in San Francisco at our Intro to Urban Bicycling Workshop. In partnership with Bay Wheels (formerly Ford GoBike), we are offering a 90-minute course covering bicycling for everyday riding in SF, the rules of the road, route planning, how to use Bay Wheels, and details of Bike Share for All (Bay Wheels’ program for low-income participants). The first half of the class will be in the classroom, and in the second half we’ll hit the streets, checking out Bay Wheels and going for a short group ride. This course is a great class for people who already know how to bike but are considering bicycling more in the city, joining Bay Wheels, or looking to brush up on urban skills. All participants will get a coupon good for a one-month membership. Additionally, four free annual memberships to Bay Wheels will be raffled off at the class

Topics Covered:

  • Helmet fit
  • Preparing to Ride
  • Rules of the Road
  • Safety Skills & Tips
  • Route Planning
  • How to use Bay Wheels
  • Bike Share for All (for low-income participants)

No bicycle is necessary for this class, although indoor bicycle parking is available. If you have a helmet, please bring it along. We will have some helmets available to be borrowed for the class.

Please note: You must be 18-years-old to join us for the ride on Bay Wheels bikes. People of all ages are welcome to join for the classroom portion of the class.

Please contact Eliana Marcus-Tyler (eliana@sfbike.org) with any questions about this program.
