From April 20-24, San Francisco was home to the largest bike to school event in the country — with more than 4,000 students getting to school on bicycle, scooter, skateboard or city bus.
The rapid growth of the event, which started in 2009 as just a single day, is yet another sign of the momentum for bicycling in San Francisco, particularly with families.
Hats (or rather, helmets) off to all the kids who participated in Bike & Roll to School Week this year, plus all the parents and school staff who brought fun, inspiring events and activities to life at all 90 schools that participated.
Bike & Roll to School Week was momentous for another reason, too: the San Francisco Unified School District joined 10 other city agencies in pledging its support of Vision Zero: eliminating all traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2024.

Many Thanks to These Supporters of the 2015 Bike & Roll to School Week
Bike and Roll to School Week is organized by the SF Bicycle Coalition, sponsored by San Francisco Safe Routes to School with support from the Metta Fund, Sports Basement and Realtex. Xtracycle, BionX and The New Wheel Electric Bikes donated the EdgeRunner Family Bike to the parent raffle. Parkwide Bike & Roll provided free bike rental coupons for 15 families. Neighborhood supporters and school volunteers also help this event grow every year. Note: Raffle winners will be notified in May.
Bike & Roll to School Week is also supported by you, SF Bicycle Coalition members, volunteers, and the biking families and San Francisco. You can help support our continued success in building the next generation of people who bike.
