Market Street is San Francisco’s most popular bike route, with thousands of daily rides in each direction (see for yourself!) and some of the city’s best bike facilities. We knew it would be a great place to reach a lot of people with our Bike Politely outreach program, so that’s where we went on Tuesday, January 27th.
From 4-6PM, we stood at the mid-block pedestrian crossing on Market Street between 7th and 8th Streets and thanked people for biking politely who were stopping behind the crosswalk when the light turned red. It’s incredible what a smile, fake stop sign and foam hand can do! Almost everyone took time to slow down, talk to us about Bike Politely and learn about upcoming projects on Market Street.
In the past, Bike Politely has visited the Embarcadero and the Wiggle, and we’ll be doing more throughout the year. This street-side outreach is just one example of our many free Safety and Education programs, for which you can find specific dates on our upcoming Events Calendar.
And one more thing! If you’re specifically interested in Market Street updates, visit our Market Street campaign page and sign up for the mailing list today.
