In a collision near Goettingen and Woolsey Streets this morning just after 10:00 a.m., a 63-year-old person biking was killed in a crash. The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) indicates that they have made a felony arrest in relation to the collision. At this time, we have no additional information about the person killed while biking.

The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition sends our deepest condolences to everyone impacted by the collision today.

Goettingen and Woolsey Streets are like many streets across San Francisco. They are quiet, small, residential streets abutting schools, parks and libraries. Every street in San Francisco should be safe for people of all ages to walk and bike. We need greater urgency from our civic leaders on delivering the safe, liveable streets that San Franciscans deserve.

Eliminating traffic deaths can only be achieved through engineering safe streets, expanding safety education and smart enforcement of our traffic laws by the SFPD. These steps make up the foundation of Vision Zero.
